Jefferson Elementary: 

Karen Buys-Head Coach 

Karen is a teacher and has been with the GOTR program for seven years.  “I volunteer because it gives me the most wonderful feeling to see the girls realize that if they can run a 5k, they can do ANYTHING!  The smiles on their faces as they cross that finish line, brings tears to my eyes every year.”

Laurie Corless- Head Coach

Laurie is a teacher and has been with the GOTR program for seven years.  “I got started in the program as a running buddy.  Two years ago I became an assistant coach, and this year I’ll be a coach.  I love watching the girls’ enthusiasm and growth throughout the 12 week program.  My favorite part is the 5k run watching the girls as they cross the finish line.”

Kim Lane- Assistant Coach

Kim is a school secretary and has been with the GOTR program for five years.  “I love the program and love the way it inspire young girls to be their best and improve their health and lifestyles.”

Patti Roberts- Assistant Coach

Pattti is an office clerk and has been with the program for four years.  “I volunteer because it get gratification in seeing young girls achieve a goal and learn about themselves and watch them grow physically, mentally, and emotionally.”

Max Larsen Elementary: 

Rosie Rial- Head Coach

Rosie is a retired teacher and has been with the GOTR program for seven years.  “It’s the best program!  It’s fun to work with the girls and is very rewarding.  It’s so exciting to see the girls at the beginning and then when they do the race.”

Trisha Brokus-Head Coach

Trisha is a teacher and has been with the GOTR program for three years.  “Running is such an amazing sport and I want to share my love of it with young girls (hopefully inspiring them.  I also think building young girls’ self-esteem is crucial in our society.”

Holly Blue-Coach

Holly is a teacher and has been with the GOTR program for four years.  “I really believe in the values, lessons, and the goals met through running.”

Mary Jill Avery- Coach

Mary is a teacher and has been with the GOTR program for seven years.  “It’s wonderful to see the girls catch the physical fitness bug early.  Running and exercise often continues to be a life-long skill for them.”

 

Lakeland Elementary: 

Kim Hewitt-Head Coach

Kim is an administrative assistant and has been with the GOTR program for six years.  “I have experienced first had how GOTR helps and affects young girls.  My daughter was involved the first year GOTR was introduced to Branch County and I was truly impressed how this program helped her mature into the young lady she is becoming today.”

Kristin Smith-Head Coach

Kristin is a registered nurse and Director of Patient Experience at CHC and has been with the GOTR program for one year.  “I started volunteering after my oldest daughter went through the program and I saw the impact GOTR can have on young girls.  I had the opportunity to coach my youngest daughter last year and be part of the program.  I am very glad I am able to be a part of it.”

Kenzi Pridgeon- Assistant Coach

Kenzie is in aviation and has been with the GOTR program for two years.  “After having never run more than three miles at once, I decided to join a running group and train for my first half marathon.  I met so many great people and fell in love with the running community.  I want to share my passion for running and be a part of such a wonderful program.”

Bonnie Pilaczynski- Head Coach

Bonnie is a master production scheduler and has been with the GOTR program for three years.  “I enjoy working with the girls; sharing and listening to their stories.  Watching them grow as the program progresses through the weeks.  Teaching the girls that there are no limits to what they can do.”

Mary Bell-Head Coach

Mary is an office manager and has been with the GOTR program for two years.  “I love to see the enthusiasm and energy the girls have.  They really enjoy the program!  They learn and grow so much from the beginning to the end.”

Dawn Bracy- Head Coach

Dawn is a fitness instructor at Great Lakes Health and Fitness and has been with the program for three years.  “I started volunteering to be with my daughter.  I love seeing the girls do something they thought they might not be able to do.  Believing in themselves, getting physically stronger, and making new friends.”

Cindy Fickle- Assistant Coach

Cindy is a church administrative assistant and has been with the GORT program for three years.  “I believe in the program!  I love to see the growth in the girls.  I believe I get more out of the program than the girls do; they give more to me than I do to them.  I enjoy the fellowship with the other coaches as well as the girls.  I have developed some wonderful friendships through GOTR.”

Valencia Barrett- Assistant Coach

Valencia is paraprofessional and has been with the program for five years.  “I would like to make a difference in the lives of our future leaders.  I believe if we make deposits now the impact will be fruitful later; not only for them but for the good of our community.”

Stacy Guertler- Head Coach

Stacy is a school counselor and has been with the GOTR program for five years.  “The posistive message that the program offers girls is inspiring.  Any girl is welcome to participate, no matter their physical abilities.  It’s a truly caring group of young ladies and adults that encourage and promote healthy positive life choices.”

Michele Lake- Head Coach

Michele is a PE teacher and has been with the GOTR program for five years.  “I joined GOTR because I am an avid runner.  I want girls to feel empowered.  I want girls this age to learn how to have self esteem and self worth.  I want girls to learn that running is a life long healthy hobby.”

Mandi MacDonald- Head Coach

Mandi is a school counselor and has been with the GOTR program for four years.  “I love the GOTR program and philoshpy.  I enjoy the tea, aspect, and the postive messages that the program sends to girls.  Working with the team of girls and seeing the pride in their faces when they cross the finish line makes all the practice and hard work worth it.”

Nicki is a second grade teacher and has been with the GOTR program for one year.  “I volunteer to support the young ladies in the program.  I think it is important that young ladies are supported in building self-esteem and athletic abilities.
